Join us for an evening of your stories! The theme is May Day in Memphis. This event is presented in partnership with the Medical District Collaborative.
Yes, it's a competition but it's also an opportunity to share five minutes of YOU with a room full of kind folks who appreciate stories.
How it works:
If you want to tell your five minute story, you'll drop your name in the bucket. We'll draw up to ten names and each person has five minutes to tell their story. Three judges score the stories on a scale of 1-10 based on content and presentation. Content is a measure of the story itself. Does it have a plot with strong beginning, absorbing middle and it drives right through to the end? Does it relate to the theme of the slam? Presentation is a measure of how well the story is told. Does the storyteller bring the story to life and connect with the audience. Is the story 5 minutes or less?
No props or notes are allowed.
After basking in triumphant glory, the winner is invited to compete in the Story Grand Slam in November for the title of Grand Master Storyteller of Memphis.
$10 Admission, paid at the door. Beer is provided compliments of High Cotton. Wine will be available for purchase in the Edge Cafe.
